The 2011 Fall Show will be held November 5 at The Chesterfield County Fair Grounds. It will be a great show!

    

Dear Pigeon Friends,

First of all, Happy New Year.  Most of you are thinking of your breeding season and some have already began pairing birds hoping for that next champion to hatch. It’s still cold here in VA as I’m sure, it’s cold everywhere else in the country. But, enough chit chat. The purpose of this note is to tell you about our next Virginia Pigeon and Dove Association (VPDA) bird show to be held Saturday, 5 November 2011 at the Chesterfield Fairgrounds (same as previous years), VA.

        We expect the show to be better and larger than ever before. I’m writing this as a result of the number of inquiries I’ve received in the last couple months. Some of you will know what to expect but others will be surprised with what’s in store. I’ve had a number of specialty clubs approach and ask questions about the show, so I wanted to give you a heads up. I’m also sending this to the many specialty clubs whose members have shown interest.

        The way we work it, the show hall is open all day Friday until 10PM to bring birds in. We have a large number of for sale cages inside that are free to use in Because, I as the club and show secretary will receive non-specialty club entries from individuals, their entry fees are $3.00 per bird. Members of the VPDA pay $2.00 entries, while junior VPDA members pay $1.00. Specialty clubs can charge their members what they want (but our flyers will Pay $3.00 per entry). We provide awards for non-specialty entries of 10 or more birds in the show when 2 or more people are exhibiting.

ACCOMODATIONS:  (same price as last year)

 

Motels are located at the intersection of Route 10 and Highway 95. I have found some to be closer but the cost or condition was not practical to warrant a stay. Those I selected here are worthy of a great stay and within 10 minutes of the Show and convenient to the other luxuries of life.

 

Country Inn & Suites (Very Nice) is near 95 on route 10 in Chester. It is on the right coming from the north as soon as you get off at exit 61. From the south get off 95 at exit 61B then go back under 95. Address is 2406 West Hundred Rd., Chester VA 23831. Phone is 804-751-0080. Quoted price is $70.00 + tax.

 

Days Inn is next door to Country Inn (Nice). Address is 2410 West Hundred Rd, Chester, VA 23831. Phone is 804-748-5871. Quoted price is $63.00 + tax.

 

Super 8 Motel is behind the Days Inn (almost as nice as Days Inn). Address is 2421 Southland Drive, Chester VA, 23831. Phone is 804-748-0050. Quoted price is $54.87 + tax.

 

LOCATION:

The Show Hall is located at the Chesterfield Fair Grounds (next to Route 10 and Highway 288). It is about 10 miles south of Richmond. The best way to get there is via Hwy 288, exit 62 off Interstate 95.Whether coming from the south or north on 95 take exit 62 (288) going northwest. Follow 288 west approximately 5 miles, get off to the right, go back under 288 and you’ll be back on Rt. 10 or Hundred or Iron Bridge Rd.(it has several names) Turn at left at first light (approximately 300 yds) on to Court House Rd. Go approximately 1 mile and turn into the Fair grounds (2nd entrance) on the right. Look for signs.
